Austin grew up in Kanata, Ontario playing his minor hockey for the Kanata Blazers and Ottawa Senators. He then signed with the Whitby Fury of the OJHL where he spent 3 seasons of Junior A hockey. Following his junior career, he committed to Western Michigan University in the NCAA where he played 4 seasons while obtaining a Bachelors of Business Administration. In 2021 he transferred to Providence College for a Masters of Business Administration while playing a final season in the NCAA.
In 2022 Austin signed with the Worcester Railers in the ECHL, a minor league affiliate for the New York Islanders. He has continued to coach goalies all over Ontario and the United States, working with No Excuses goaltending out of Whitby, Ontario (3 years), Kalamazoo Minor Hockey Association in Michigan (4 years), and the Southern Rhode Island Youth Hockey Association in Providence (1 year) where he lead a goaltending curriculum state wide seminar for minor hockey goalie coaches. Austin looks forward to merging his educational background in business with his years of experience in hockey to provide the best guidance to the next generation of hockey players.”
